Ethics charter
This charter sets out the commitments that guide Khountou’s editorial team, moderators and partners in handling reports, verifications and administration responses.
1.Independence and neutrality
Khountou is a private, independent, neutral platform of public utility. It is not affiliated with the State, any political party or any administration it rates.
- No political content, no electoral campaigning, no partisan ranking.
- Advertisers and partners have no influence on scores or publications.
2.Fact verification
Sensitive reports are checked before being highlighted: cross-checking of sources, field visits, analysis of photos and official documents.
- Each verification states its method, its sources and its level of evidence.
- Errors are corrected publicly, with the date of correction.
3.Moderation of contributions
Every report and comment is moderated. Content that is defamatory, insulting, discriminatory or that identifies a private person is removed.
- Faces and licence plates are blurred on published photos.
- Individual public agents are never named: reports concern services, not people.
4.Right of reply for administrations
Every administration concerned by a report is notified and may publish an official response, displayed next to the report and taken into account in its score.
Contesting a publication
An administration may contest a verification by writing to ethique@khountou.sn. The request is examined within 7 working days.5.Personal data protection
Khountou processes personal data in accordance with Law No. 2008-12 of 25 January 2008 on the protection of personal data and under the supervision of the CDP (Commission de Protection des Données Personnelles).
- Reports can be published anonymously; contact details are never shown.
- No data is sold or transferred for commercial purposes.
